Да не, не может, это же ОЗУ, т.е. степени двойки, а не жёсткий диск, где степени десятки.

free -b показывает mem total как 4 159 479 808 байт, т.е. 4 601 992 килобайт, или 3 966 мегабайт. 3 966 + 128 = 4094, почти 4096 (нада полагать из-за погрешности вычислений ), т.е. установленный в материнку объем памяти. Как-раз 128 не хватает.

Тока что посмотрел, у меня целых 52 метра не хватает! :)
Пошел в биос. Биос говорит что отбирает целых два метра, и не отдаст. Больше ничего не нашел. Так что осталось найти еще 50.

Возможно стоит поискать конфигурацию, где при установленных 4-х гигабайтах ОЗУ команда free -m показывает число Mem total 4094-4096. Может такого и в принципе быть не может? Странно всё это.
