Я рекомендую — Бэкапим систему, используя rsync.

Давно написал скрипт для инкрементального бэкапа системы на другой жесткий диск с помощью rsync. Скрипт простой, принимает лишь один аргумент - что будем бекапить: root, home или базу данных pacman. Можно очень просто добавить свои цели для бекапа.
Для изменения под себя, надо просто указать, где лежит файл исключений (те директории и файлы, которые не надо сохранять), где лежит лог-файл, и, конечно же, директорию для создания резервной копии системы.

Есть проблема! — восстановление системы duplicity

Здравствуйте.
Было дело, искал чем делать бэкапы системы, остановился на duplicity.
Прошло пару месяцев, пришло время проверить как работает восстановление системы из бэкапа. Хочу заметить, что настраивался инкрементальный бэкап корня.
И вот пытаюсь восстановить из работающей машины - система умирает.
Собственно вопрос - есть ли возможность восстановить систему? К сожалению вариант загрузки с livecd не подходит, так как сервер находится в Gogrid, а там нету такой возможности, также как и подключить второй винт\раздел.
Собственно нужна помощь в востановлении бэкапа ВСЕЙ системы из duplicity на работающую систему (или какие-то предположения, буду тестировать).

Есть вопрос! — Резервное копирование сайта

Вопрос возник. Есть сайт, в стадии конструирования и наполнения. И есть желание делать его резервную копию. Например, в таком виде:
— 1 раз в сутки архивируется структура каталогов;
— каждые, скажем, 4 часа делается дамп БД;
— бэкап немедленно по изготовлении заливается на другой сервер (ftp, scp, как угодно).
Врукопашную я понимаю как. tar + gzip, mysqldump, scp, cron, вуаля. А хочется какого-то целостного решения, может быть, с контролем версий и слежением за возрастом бэкапа. Может, bacula?
Может, фигню спрашиваю, но хотелось бы узнать о чужом опыте, прежде чем городить костыли.
Да, на сервере Debian Squeeze, на сервере-приёмнике он же.

В общем дело такое... Недавно поставил сестре Ubuntu, всё её устраивает, всем довольна! Но дело в том что по работе ей требуется некоторый виндовый софт и потому иногда, по надобности она в неё загружается.

Есть вопрос! — Опять жесткие диски [UPD2]

Вообщем у меня умер уже второй за этот год WD сата2 на 500 гиг, самое интересное, что работал нормально, шума не издавал. А потом я попытался открыть папку с ним и обнаружил — она пустая, проверив логи заметил много мата (дед блок) и проверив обнаружил, что он не примаунтен. Проверив фдиск, я удивился еще больше, так как диск вообще не видно. Рестарт не помог(не видно на уровне биоса). Выключил компьютер на ночь, включив утром он увидил диск, но не успел загрузиться в систему, как он опять его перестал видеть. Собственно пару вопросов:
1)Как узнать заранее, что диск умирает
2)Какие настройки в ядре ковырять
3)Какой фирмы и какие жесткие посоветуете (диск на 320 (тфу-тфу-тфу, тук-тук-тук) тоже WD и работает уже много лет, есть еще новый на теру той же фирмы)
4)Возможно, что программа убила? (так как на оба умерших диска шла скачка/раздача торрентов 24/7 с трансмишион, и меня пугает больше всего, то это из-за фичи Set location...)
5)Может ли быть проблема с материнкой ( у меня чип там джимикрон, чтоб еще и ИДЕ и сата читал)

Комп был выключен сутки, вытащил-вставил шлейф, подключил новокупленный самсунг на 1 ТБ для переноса данных, включил комп — жесткий работает, да еще программа смарта говорит, что он здоровый и все ок. верить смарту или нет? Кто разбирается в смарте и жестких, скажите в комментах какую инфу выложить, нужна оценка здоровости диски, а то страшно, что в след раз он полетит на вечно.
Ха, диск опять даже байос не видит, что-то явно механическое глючит, ибо при той загрузке смарт показал, что все ок и я дурак бекап не сделал на новый диск. попробую еще через 20 часов его =)

Стало интересно, кто как бекапит, лично я для снятия использую:

1	dd if=/dev/%раздел%\|lzma -9cf>backup

И для заливки:

1	lzma -c backup\|dd of=/dev/%раздел%

Для раздела с / это занимает почти 3 часа, размер раздела 7гб, заполнено 5гб.

Выходной размер - 2.1гб

А как вы бэкапите?

Большинство линуксоидов время от времени делают обновление системы. И большинство их не задумываются о бэкапе. А зря - обновление некоторых пакетов время от времени может что-то серьзно портить в системе (вплоть до того, что она вообще не будет грузиться - у меня такое один раз было в *бунте после дистапгрейда), и не всегда это просто исправить. Но бэкапить абсолютно все для этого как-то глупо, да и у многих просто нет достаточного количества свободного места. Я лично делаю бэкап только самых необходимых своих документов и самого редкого "вареза" из сети. А бэкап системы делаю самым простым методом из мира генту, называемым stage4.

Tips & tricks — Делаем бекап MBR

Для создании резервной копии MBR выполните.

1	dd if=/dev/sda of=bootsector.img bs=512 count=1

Эта команда сохранит загрузочный сектор диска sda1 в файле bootsector.img.

Теперь в случае аварии будет достаточно загрузиться с флешки или с диска и выполнить команду восстановления:

1	dd if=bootsector.img of=/dev/sda

How-to`s — Создание live-usb для бэкапа/восстановления системы

Каждый раз, когда мне приходится делать резервную копию системы я искал незанятую USB флэшку, на которую заливал установочный образ ArchLinux и грузился в него. В этом способе был очень неприятный момент — мне приходилось искать незанятую USB флэшку размером >512 MiB, при том что под рукой всегда лежала SD карточка на 64 MB, которой для нужд бэкапа и восстановления вполне хватило бы. Но с SD карточкой была одна проблема — редкий дистрибутив мог загрузиться с нее на моем Eee PC 900. Перепробовав с дюжину различных мелких дистрибутивов, ни один из которых мне не подошел полностью, я решил сделать свою live систему.
